2010 Eat Local Now! Dinner
Thursday, September 30th, 2010
Herban Feast, SODO Park
3200 1st Avenue South
Seattle, WA, 98134
Eat Local Now! Dinner will celebrate it’s seventh year running on September 30th, 2010! Always a sell-out, this year Sustainable West Seattle, West Seattle CoolMom, Seattle Good Business Network (formerly BALLE Seattle), and Herban Feast are co-presenting this fundraising dinner. This year’s event is focused not only on promoting and educating about local food systems - but also turning local food systems into local food economies and development of green jobs.
The evening’s featured speakers are Edward Hill, the founding Director of Creatives4Community and GroundUp Organics and Ray Zambroski of The Groundbreakers. Both groups are working to create green jobs within local community food systems.
Local food from Puget Sound will be prepared by the featured chefs. Locally and sustainably produced beer, wine and fresh cider will be available at a cash bar. Other organizations involved in our local food economy will have information at the event about purchasing locally as well as growing your own food.
The featured chefs include many Seattle favorites, including:
Ariel Bangs - Healthy Creations
Dalis Chea - Herban Feast
Eric Rivera – Culinary Student and Food Blogger
Hajime Sato - Mashiko
Jack Spiess - Seatown
Jacob Wiesberg - Blackboard Bistro
Marisa Lown - The Radical Cupcake
Traci Knight - Local Pastry Chef
The evening includes dinner, exhibitors, speakers active in the local food movement, a silent auction and music by Ali Marcus. Eat Local Now! encourages participation in local food systems, bolstering the local economy and the development of green jobs.
The 7th Annual Eat Local Now! event supports our local food producers and allows the people the opportunity to talk to the farmers, fishers, ranchers, bakers and those who make the local food system possible. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for children.
Good Food. Close to Home. Building Local Economies.
Our deep gratitude goes to our local sponsors and donors without whom this event would not flourish. Thank you!
