Sorry, We are sold out!
Eat Local Now! Dinner at Ballard High School on April 29th, 2008 is in its fifth year! Always a sell-out, Sustainable Ballard and BALLE Seattle promote year-round support of local food, raise awareness about farmland flooding issues, and give neighbors the opportunity to share in community with those who feed them. Youth Earth Service Corps will help with outreach and event logistics. Speakers from flood-stricken farms frame the discussion of our local food, the challenges its producers face, and its future. Come and enjoy a full delicious dinner crafted by chefs, made possible by producers, and enjoyed by you!

We encourage you to walk, bicycle, use public transportation or carpool. Limited Parking is available behind the school.

Program
This year, Eat Local Now! will raise awareness about farmland flooding issues in Washington. Mike Peroni, from Boistfort Valley Farm in Curtis, WA, and Erick Haakenson, from Jubilee Farm in Carnation, WA, two farms affected by major floods in recent years, will frame the discussion of how flooding affects our local food system, the challenges local farmers face, and how city folks can work with farmers to help secure our local food system.
A silent auction will be held, raising funds for the host organizations, as well as for a Farm Emergency Relief Fund. The silent auction features a great variety of items and t-shirts will be for sale, so remember to bring some cash or your checkbook!
