The 2009 Summit

On April 26th, 2009, community leaders, farmers, businesses, and local food activists met for a day-long potluck event to discuss the future of Eat Local Now!

Over the last six years, a community of interest from farmers to distributors to chefs to diners has grown up around the Eat Local Now! concept. We have not organized and allied ourselves in any formal way, but together we’ve accomplished a lot.

Now we plan to deepen and strengthen that community. If you would like to become active in building the Eat Local Now! community, please contact Derek Hoshiko at 206.330.9099 or at derek (AT) balleseattle.org so we can do even more together in 2009 and beyond:

  • networking and connecting
  • identifying common objectives and goals where we can work together (and understanding where we differ and can agree to disagree)
  • outlining goals and guidelines for Eat Local Now! to give us clarity going forward, and for us to share with other communities that may want to build their own Eat Local Now! events.
